My name is Brittney Lockard-Smith and I am the ballet teacher at Elite. I have always had a great love for dance. This began at a very early age while I attend ballet, tap, and gymnastics at Gail Frederick's School of Dance. From a very young age I knew that dance and gymnastics would be a very influential part of my life. Dance and gymnastics have definitely helped to shape me into the person I am today! As a child I excelled in the sports of cheerleading and gymnastics, however, dance was always a true love and passion of mine. I began taking ballet, tap and gymnastics as a child and continued to take classes for twelve years.

The benefits I received from dance, gymnastics and cheerleading exceed any I had ever imagined. It taught me the value of self-respect and personal responsibility while aiding in a healthy lifestyle. It has been a life-long dream of mine to help instill these characteristics in the youth of our area. Now, with the Sarah Kathern Ramsey Performing Arts Center I feel that we can offer our youth so much!

A little bit about me, ¦I am a 2000 graduate of Barbourville High School, where I cheered for four years. A 2004 graduate of Union College and was a cheerleader for the Bulldogs as well. I currently teach 7th grade at Knox County Middle School. I continued my education at Union College where I received my Master’s Degree in 2005 and My Rank I Certificate in 2006. I am now in my sixth year of teaching school in Knox County. Prior to teaching in Knox County I coached the Barbourville Varsity Cheerleaders for one year and the Barbourville Varsity Dance Team for two years. During my tenure with the Knox County Schools I have coached dance teams at Central Elementary (formerly Boone Elementary) for two years, the Knox County Middle School Varsity Dance Team for three years, and the Knox Central Varsity Dance Team for one year.

I am married to Dustin Smith and we reside in Barbourville, with our dog Maycee Jo. We enjoy attending Locust Grove Baptist Church, spending time with our family and cheering on the Kentucky Wildcats. We hope that you will come join our fantastic team at the Sarah Kathern Ramsey Performing Arts Center. We have so much to offer each of you and can't wait to have you on our team!
